Michigan Thursday: Austin Davis and Mike Debord Back

Tonight is senior night and Austin Davis's framed jersey will have to wait another year as the senior has come to agreement with Juwan on a 5th year.  This seemed like the longest of long shots earlier this season, I had even thought Davis might not play at all this year so he could grad transfer with two to play.  

That didn't happened and Austin has looked pretty good at times this year, even better then starter Jon Teske during a lot of the Big Ten season.  That effort has granted him another year of Michigan Basketball.

My only questions is, where are all the scholarships going to come from?  If Michigan lands 1 or 2 of the 5 stars they are chasing, they are going to be over the max.  Which could mean some attrition from others on the roster.

• Jimmy has hired former Michigan OC Mike Debord as an offensive analyst. This shows that Jimmy is loyal but I can't imagine he will be affecting Michigan's current offense much.  I would assume he will be scouting and game planning for opponents.

• Duncan Robinson hit 9 three pointers last night for the Heat

Wolverine Wednesday: LeVert Goes For 51

The Brooklyn Nets have both KD and Kyrie and both are out for the year.  Which means Caris LeVert continues to become a NBA future star.   Last night Caris blew up for 51 points with 37 of those points coming in the 4th at in OT.   That is just amazing!

• "Snacks" has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Week.  His viral video has been viewed over 5M times. 

• OSU RB Master Teague is out this spring after suffering an Achilles injury.  Severity isn't known at this time. 

• Dan Enos is becoming the RB coach at University of Cincinnati.  Dan was the OC at Miami, and spent 5 minutes on Michigan's staff a few years ago. 

• So you probably heard that Joe Bolden has accepted a defensive quality control job at OSU.   Desmond Morgan has also been named the LB coach at Indiana State.  The Fighting Larry Bird's.

Michigan Tuesday: Rocco's Top 10

If you guys are not familiar with Rocco Spindler, he is a 4 star Guard, #2 Guard in the nation, and #49 player overall in the 2021 class.  He is 6'5 300 pounds and from Clarkston, MI.

He has been to Ann Arbor a number of times and released a top 10 yesterday that included Michigan and these other 9 teams:  Alabama, Arizona State, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, and Tennessee.

Having such a high profile recruit instate makes Rocco a must win for Jimmy and the Wolverines.   I have one sentence for Rocco and the other 9 teams:  "Forget about it!" :-)

• Josh Uche said that Chris Evans was working 3 jobs while away from the team.  I'm very proud of Chris on how he has bounced back and hope he has a great season.

Michigan Monday: OSU Hits Michigan With the W's

Michigan Basketball had a bad week, they went 0-2.   The bottom line was their opponents hit the 3 and Michigan didn't.   If you look at the stat line on yesterday's OSU game it will show a clear lack of defense on guys whose names start with W.

Washington 20 points
Walker 15 points
Wesson 14 points
Wesson 14 points

If you defend the W's you might get a W.  Wagner Michigan's only W got 18 points.   It was a weird W day that ended with L.  Speaking of L, Livers with 6 points is not going to do it.

• Josh Metellus is fast and ran a 4.55 at the Combine. 

• Hudson also had a good 40 at 4.56 

• Ruiz and Runyan both ran a 5.08

• McKeon, Bredeson, Onwenu, Uche, and Hill didn't run.

It's hard to say who improved their draft stock and who didn't.  But DPJ had a very good Combine, which might raise his 4-5th round grade.   Hudson could also be the steal of the draft.
