A crowd of more than 200 patrons and merchants of the Cross Street Market packed a Federal Hill church Monday night to deliver a message to a Towson developer who wants to overhaul the beloved, yet dilapidated market: Put people first.
"The most valuable asset in the market is the vendors," said Deborah Flavin, of Riverside, who has been a customer of the historic market for years. "They are the ones who made it and made it last so long."
Flavin and dozens of others attended the meeting of the Cross Street Market Advisory Committee and told developer Arsh Mirmiran, of Caves Valley Partners, not to ruin what they termed the lives and businesses of the current vendors at the market, many of whom are close friends and a part of the community.
