Meet local artists, catch live performances and demonstrations, attend specialty workshops, and make your own creations at the Frostburg Arts Walk 2017!
This year’s Arts Walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 29 in Downtown Frostburg. Designed to be a walking arts tour, attendees can expect a jam-packed evening with a wide array of entertainment for the whole family.
Our artists include painters, photographers, metalworkers, jewelers, potters, seamstresses, glassblowers, soap makers, and more. More than 45 artists and craftspeople will be selling their wares in 28 participating businesses and downtown locations. There will also be a full line-up of musical and theatrical performances throughout the day at several indoor and outdoor stages around town.
There is lots of fun to be had for the kids, too! Hosted by Evergreen Heritage Center, children can create unique crafts at City Place using recycled materials, or board the Arts Bus for more colorful fun with Kids Craft with Clare. Other kids activities and demonstrations include a free pasta necklace station, a homemade play dough class, and a tie-dye workshop.
Having earned a designation as Maryland’s 18th Arts and Entertainment District in 2009, Frostburg’s Arts Walk is held annually to showcase the talents of local artists and craftsmen.
“It’s so important to shop at independent businesses and to support local artists, and Arts Walk is the perfect opportunity to do both,” said Bethany Doyle, Main Street Assistant. “It’s really exciting to see the many avenues of expression that can be taken.”
Arts Walk is sponsored by FrostburgFirst, the Maryland State Arts Council, and the Allegany Arts Council. Most special events and activities are free, and many Frostburg businesses will offer Arts Walk discounts, specials, and raffle opportunities.
