After narrowing down it from 238 applications, Amazon has named Montgomery County as a leading location for its second North American headquarters.
The retail giant today announced the 20 potential candidates for its future facility, ranging from Los Angeles to Boston. Locally, Montgomery County, Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, and Philadelphia are all listed as possibilities. See the full list on Amazon.com.
“This is tremendous news for Montgomery County, our entire state, and further proof that Maryland is truly open for business. Maryland put forward an extremely strong group of sites that were all supported by the state with incentive packages totaling more than $5 billion, including road and transit improvements,” said Governor Larry Hogan.
“Going forward, we will continue working with our partners in Montgomery County, including County Executive Ike Leggett and his team, to ensure that we do everything possible to bring this project home. This news is certainly welcome, but the real challenge lies ahead – and Maryland is ready to meet it,” he continued.
Today we are announcing the communities that will proceed to the next step in the HQ2 process. Getting from 238 to 20 was very tough – all the proposals showed tremendous enthusiasm and creativity https://t.co/x1bFYbk4Ui pic.twitter.com/J2x0HHzBTR
