Streets Market strives to be staple grocer in Baltimore

Last fall, DC-based grocery chain Streets Market & Café opened on Charles Street in downtown Baltimore. The addition of the market offers residents both convenience and high quality products and comes as part of the ongoing residential conversions that are underway in the area.

Locally-owned and operated, Streets Market is a shop where Whole Foods meets Giant, with added international elements that satisfy every type of shopper. Here in Baltimore, it strives to be a staple in the local community. When asked about Streets’ overall experience in the city, Campbell Burns simply responded, “fantastic.”

“We see Baltimore as a long-term investment,” said Burns, vice president of Streets Market.

Streets Market gives people the comforts of a well-stocked kitchen by offering a wide selection of fresh, organic goods, while also providing standard grocery store staples. The market has a chef prepared gourmet selection of grab-and-go dishes available that give a level of comfort and expediency to market goers.

The store is funded in part by a two-year, $100,000 grant from the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore and a $250,000 loan from the Baltimore Development Corporation [BDC]. “We have a fantastic relationship with BDC and the Downtown Partnership,” said Burns.

The focus remains on providing local consumers with the goods they need while offering competitive pricing. The availability of fresh meat, fresh produce, and hard-to-find foods all under one roof makes it an invaluable addition to the neighborhood.
