This week, while you are planning your Thanksgiving feast and your Black Friday shopping haul, don’t forget to squeeze in time for Small Business Saturday on November 26th.
Small Business Saturday is a yearly shopping holiday started by American Express in 2010. It is estimated that $14.3 billion was spent on Small Business Saturday in 2014, and more than 95 million people shopped at small businesses on the day in 2015. Find shops in your area by clicking here.
“Here in Maryland, small businesses make up nearly 95 percent of all firms, employing more than a third of our state’s workforce,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill. “We encourage all residents to support the backbone of our economy by shopping small on November 26th.”

Capital Region
