Frostburg has announced it is one of eight towns named to the shortlist in the Small Business Revolution’s main street contest.
Small Business Revolution launched the second year of Small Business Revolution on Main Street this fall. Nearly 14,000 nominations were received from every state across the country – other towns included on the shortlist include Bristol Borough, Pennsylvania; Marietta, Ohio; and Red Wing, Minnesota.
Over the next few months, organizers will narrow down the finalists by visiting visit each town on the shortlist. The winning town and its businesses will receive a $500,000 revitalization next year.
“This opportunity is a chance for our small town to get a much deserved boost in its process of revitalization,” said Jessica Palumbo, City of Frostburg Main Street Program Manager. “I am so proud of all of our dedicated business owners and community members, because this opportunity would not be possible without all of their hard work.”
Frostburg’s nomination was first submitted by Katie Morgan, a Frostburg State University alumna who treasured her time in the mountainside town. Palumbo credits the shortlist selection to the area’s young entrepreneurs, volunteerism, and dedication to the community.
Finalists will be announced on February 9, and the public will vote for the winner on SmallBusinessRevolution.org.
