Michigan Friday: Will The SEC Let Malik Zaire Play At Florida?

Former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire reportedly wants to play at Florida as a grad transfer next year.   The rumor mill is spinning that Florida is his choice but the SEC in penalizing the Gator for taking transfers that didn't meet academic requirements.

Per TomVh from ESPN:  The Gators are currently in the second year of a three-year penalty for taking grad transfers who ultimately did not meet academic requirements.
That penalty precludes the staff from taking a grad transfer until 2018, which means that Zaire would not be able to consider Florida as his school with only one year of eligibility remaining. That penalty -- and the punishment it brings -- is being voted on at the SEC meetings on Friday and could clear a path for Zaire to enroll at Florida.

Zaire has visited Wisconsin and North Carolina and is also considering Texas and Florida.  NC took former LSU QB Brandon Harris as a grad transfer, so they are probably out.   Which would leave Wisconsin and Texas if Florida is not a go.   It seems the former ND QB is waiting for the SEC to rule before he makes his decision.

  • 2018 4-star WR Elijah Moore wants to visit A2 soon.
  • 2018 NC 4-star DL Alim McNeill will visit Ann Arbor and Penn State this month.
  • Michigan has offered 3-star FL WR Shocky Jacques-Louis, who is a current UK commit.
  • Michigan made the top 7 for 5-star DE Micah Parsons, he is most likely going to OSU.
