Wolverine Wednesday: Kurt Taylor Transfers & Michigan BBall Starts The Season

Michigan has a ton of depth at the RB position.  The only RB expected to head to the NFL next season is senior Karan Higdon.  Michigan also has 2 high profile RB's committed in the next class (even though Gray is very shaky).   Not to mention recruiting a 5 star athlete that plays RB and LB who was on campus this weekend.

Looking up at a depth chart this season that includes Braylon's brother, Kurt Taylor decided to transfer from the Wolverines this week.   This does not come as a surprise as students and fans have been seeing him outside the stadium an hour before kickoff and working out at the IM building.  My guess is, he hasn't been with the team for some time now.

He seems like a good kid and we wish him well at his next school.

Michigan Basketball beat Norfolk State last night and it looked like the first game of the season.  Michigan shot 36% and was 6-26 from 3 point range.  Here are a few thoughts from Game #1:

Michigan's defense was the difference in the game.  Teske is a real force at Center, blocking shots and causing missed shots.  You can see he is really improving.

Michigan's freshman seem talented even though most got in late in the game.  Brazdeikis played 22 minutes and had 12 points.  He has a very nice upside.

I also thought Livers played a solid game off the bench and really made a statement to start.

Michigan can't shoot.  Yes, it maybe first game jitters and this always seems to improve under Coach B, but this team is going to struggle on offense for awhile until they can knock down open jumpers.

Free throws is still a problem.  Michigan was 13-29, just terrible.

Charles Matthews still isn't ready for the NBA.  I was hoping to see a huge step forward from Matthews.   He still has issues with his shot, he was 0-4 from 3 and 0-5 from the free throw line.

Michigan plays Villanova in a week and North Carolina in 3 weeks, they will need to improve if they are going to be competitive in those games.

Congrats to Coach B on 800 wins!
