Now there is proof, Michigan has had two very good defensive lines the last two years. Both lines have ranked near the top in the country the past two season. In 18 Big Ten games, how many holding calls would you have guessed were called by Big Ten officials 10? 20?, John Kryk reports that Michigan opponents were flagged twice in two years for holding against Michigan's defensive lines. Projected first round DT Mo Hurst was never held in the last two years in Big Ten play. Over that same period, OSU has gotten 8 calls, Wisconsin 7, and Penn State 7. I'm betting Mo Hurst was held 4-5 times against OSU alone.

Big Ten officiating is becoming a joke and needs to be blown up and new officials need to be hired. I don't believe leagues need to have their own officials, it leads to too many personal feelings. They should blow up that system and arrange officials in regions to help on travel. East Coast, Central, and West Coast officials that would do all leagues. This would help officials get diverse experience and limit the same officials doing the same teams during the year.
- PSU OC Joe Moorhead who many say is the reason for PSU success over the last two years is a strong candidate to fill the open head coaching role at Miss. State. Pep Hamilton is also a candidate.
