News has been pretty slow over the holiday weekend. Michigan Basketball had a nice home win over Purdue and Jimmy was playing in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Woodson is also reportedly replacing Keyson Johnson on ESPN's NFL Countdown. Pretty normal boring stuff in the off season.
Then the news broke last night that Michigan pulled in a huge 2017 recruit in QB Dylan McCaffrey. The services are a bit scattered on the Dylan's size and whether he is a pro style or dual-threat QB. Rivals has him at the #6 Dual Threat and 114th overall prospect. Rivals has him at 6'4 and 185 pounds.
24/7 has him as the #2 pro-style QB and at 6'5 200 pounds. He is ranked as the #47th ranked prospect in the country.
Scouts has him as the #3 QB overall and at 6'4.5 195 pounds. He is ranked as the 39th player in the 2017 class.
All the services rank this talented QB with 4 stars.
This is a talented football family, McCaffrey is the son of former NFL wide receiver and three-time Super Bowl champion Ed McCaffrey. His brother, Christian, was the Heisman runner-up for Stanford and maybe the best athlete in college football. Dylan also has another brother that plays for Duke.
This was Jimmy's top QB on this board and a huge pick-up. Getting a top flight QB this early should help pull in a bunch of big time skill players on offense. If Dylan has a good camp circuit this summer and senior year, I expect he will be a 5 star QB before signing day.
Duke, Stanford and Michigan, I bet daddy is happy that his kids earned scholarships!
Side note: This is the second year in a row, Michigan has pulled the top player out of Colorado.
