I complain a lot this time of year, there just isn't any news around the program to give my loyal readers good content. Today is not one of those days. Michigan picked up a 4 star Legacy DE last night and officially lost a future superstar to a transfer and family issues.
Let's start with the bad news first. Devin Asiasi made it official and has left the program and will transfer to a school closer to his home in California. The rumor mill has been spinning on this topic for nearly a month, so this transfer does not come as a surprise. It seems Devin hasn't been in class and has been out with his family in California.
This is a tough loss for the Wolverines. Devin played a lot as a freshman and I expected him to be a player that falls between Devin Funchess and Jake Butt. Which would make him an All American type of player. I'm willing to bet he ends up at UCLA with Jedd.
Now the good news:
Michigan gets a 2018 commitment from legacy instate 4 star DE Aiden Hutchinson.
Aiden is a 4 star DE to Scout's and 247 and 3 star to ESPN and Rivals. He is 6'6 245 pounds and has plenty of growing to do as he is still a young man and only 16 years old as a junior in high school.
As it's still very early in the 2018 class, spots will be limited for the Wolverines in a class expected under 20 players. Aiden being a legacy player, is expected to stick until signing day.
His evaluations have been all over the board as he is closer to his first floor then his ceiling as a young player. If he continues to grow, add strength, and weight he could be a dominant player on either line when he gets to Ann Arbor. He did preform well at the Best of the Midwest combine on Monday.
Aiden holds offers from LSU, MSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, BC, Minnesota, Syracuse, Vandy, and a few others.
This is the 3rd commitment to the 2018 class.
Welcome Aiden!
