Baltimore smartphone repair startup Fixt raises double its fundraising goal

Baltimore smartphone repair startup Fixt has raised $800,000 in an oversubscribed seed round that closed in 10 days.

Fixt sought to raise $400,000 to advance the company’s smartphone repair business, but was overwhelmed by investor interest. Investors from Silicon Valley, New York and Baltimore contributed to the round, though CEO Luke Cooper declined to name specific investors.

The $800,000 in new funding will support Fixt through another year of scaling up business, Cooper said.

Fixt’s mobile application can detect when a phone has been dropped or broken and will immediately begin assessing the damage and begin a work order for Fixt, which will fix or replace the device. Fixt is targeting corporate IT departments that handle dozens of phones and could benefit from a more streamlined approach to repairing devices when employees damage them.
