- Michigan fans are a bit nervous with Rashan Gary's recruitment. We all remember too well Deshawn Hand's recruitment and leading for what seemed forever to have him commit to Alabama. Gary is expected to do another unofficial this weekend but visited USC this weekend: "Oh my gosh," said Jennifer Coney, Rashan's mother. "L.A. is absolutely beautiful."Gary already made official visits to Mississippi, Auburn and Michigan, and he is contemplating a visit to either LSU, Alabama or Clemson. Ohio State is also trying to get involved with a Monday in-home visit. "He could definitely go to USC," Coney said. "The visit was a game-changer."
Gary, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound athletic marvel, spent time with USC players Kenny Bigelow and Oluwole Betiku. He also met up with Rasheem Green, whom he initially met during The Opening in July 2014."They were all very nice," Coney said. "We had (dinner) with Kenny Bigelow and he is a very nice young man. We really enjoyed it. The kids on the team are very nice. "The trip allowed Gary and his mom to get their first in-depth look at USC, and in between the trip to Beverly Hills and to see the famous "Hollywood" sign, they were able to see the campus and meet with academic advisors. "I learned that USC is a great school academically," Coney said. "They showed me their plan for success for Rashan, how they will implement his classes to his schedule, individualized tutoring. Most campuses that we have been to have the same thing, but I know Michigan and USC are two of the better academic colleges, where their degrees hold weight. "They encourage their football players to get internships. It's very comparable to what I felt at Michigan, but the weather was good." YIKES!
- David Long is expected to announce his decision Thursday on ESPNU at 6:00. He visited UW this weekend. I believe Michigan is in great shape for his commitment.
- Last weekend's visitor athlete/safety Khaleke Hudson seemed to have gone well. Many insiders are now predicting a Michigan commitment soon.
- Lavert Hill visited Penn State this weekend and they committed a recruiting violation by introducing him at a hockey game and walking him out to center ice.
- WR Eddie McDoom with the best name in recruiting had been committed to Oregon, but told the coaches he wanted to visit Ann Arbor and the coaches pulled his scholarship. Eddie is expected to visit Ann Arbor this weekend. What does this mean for the likes of Crawford, who really liked Oregon and Nate Johnson who is getting recruited hard by ND, we should know soon.
- Speaking of The Ducks, they just hired Brady Hoke as their Defensive Coordinator. The guy can recruit, not sure what he will be like running a defense and wearing a head set.
- TE visitor Chase Allen had a great visit and considers Michigan his leader.
- As you know we expect some more de-commitments from the current class and it seems Rashad Weaver to Temple and Kiante Enis to IU are gaining momentum.
- Michigan also offered DB Isaiah Simmons this weekend.
