Michigan Thursday: Wolverines Wins First 12:30 Battle

Michigan won the first 12:30 recruiting battle against FSU this week as Devin Bush Jr. picked the Wolverines yesterday afternoon.

Devin fills a huge need at LB for the Wolverines.  The best news is Devin will be enrolling at Michigan in January and will get Spring Practice reps and hopefully be ready to play next season.

Devin comes in at 5’11 and 225 pounds and is rated 4 stars by Rivals and ESPN and 3 stars by Scout and 24/7.   He is known as a run stopper and a guy that can cover a TE.  His rating might be a bit different on each service but his offer list is clearly a 4 star prospect with the likes of: Alabama, FSU, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, ND, UCLA, Nebraska, Texas, Miss State and many may others.   His height seems to be the biggest issue in his ranking as he measured in at 5’9 at Nike’s Opening.

This is a huge get for the Wolverines and now they can focus on getting one more LB and other priorities.  Did I mention other priorities?

Today at 12:30 we have another announcement from #1 RB Kareem Walker.  Many believe it’s another Michigan vs. FSU decision.   FSU is making another late push for his service.   As you know, Kareem was committed to OSU before de-committing a number of weeks ago.   Since I predicted FSU for Bush and he picked Michigan, I will do the same here and hope for the same results!  :)

  • We had some interesting DC developments yesterday.  Navy’s coach said he is staying at Navy and won’t be taking BYU’s head coaching job and Lance Anderson from Stanford said, he is not leaving Stanford for another DC job.  Meaning, Jimmy has probably been working on another candidate for a few days.   The name I keep hearing is former South Florida head coach Jim Leavitt.  Jim worked with Jimmy in SF and is currently the DC at Colorado.   Jim was fired at South Florida for having some type of physical altercation with a player.   South Florida settled the case, so maybe we don’t have all the details in that situation.
