Michigan Tuesday: Gets Surprised By The Bell

The early signing period starts tomorrow and Michigan is treating it like the first week in February.   They picked up a commitment from instate FB Ben VanSumeren on Sunday.  On Monday, they picked up a commitment from WR Ronnie Bell from Kansas City.

Why is it a surprise?  Ronnie was expected to play college basketball and really hasn't even been ranked by the recruiting services.  He recently changed his mind on basketball and recruiters started to notice the top football player in KC.  Ronnie caught 89 passes for 1605 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior.   He is 6'1 and 170 pounds and looks like a slot WR in Jimmy's offense.  He was offered by Michigan on Saturday.

  • It's official, the 3 players from Ole Miss that Michigan was interested in, turned out to be just one as Van Jefferson is now heading to Florida.   He will be coached by the former Mississippi State coach ironically.

  • Michigan is looking to flip another instate prospect as they just offered Rochester CB Vincent Gray.  He is a 6'2 180 pounds and currently committed to Missouri.

  • Here is how the recruiting calendar works with the new signing day:  Dead period started on Monday, calls/texts are still allowed. Early signing period is Dec. 20-22.  Then the dead period lasts until Jan. 12.
