Baltimore’s Top Businesses Connect Around a Cause

Earlier this month, dozens of Baltimore’s top businesses came together for a friendly competition.

Companies sent teams of six to face off in Civic Works’ First Annual Amazing Race. The race saw teams competing in a variety of challenges, all based around the themes of sustainability and urban agriculture.

They fought to make the most creative and delicious fruit pizzas, raced each other in a relay while wearing vision impairing masks to imitate the deteriorated sight of the elderly, and completed tasks of dexterity wearing a hazmat suit. Participating organizations include BGE, Wells Fargo, Johns Hopkins University, T. Rowe Price and more.

The event illustrated how seriously these companies, and Baltimore businesses in general, take corporate responsibility. Attendees remarked on how much fun they had all while learning more about sustainability and Civic Works’ core programs.

The day concluded with “Baltimore’s Biggest Outdoor Happy Hour,” where employees networked while eating from food trucks and enjoying spirits from local breweries.

Civic Works, a non-profit working in Baltimore for over 20 years, strengthens local communities through education, skills development, and community service. Get involved by visiting civicworks.com.
