Michigan Monday: Tyler Leaves Without a Commit and NBA Combine Re-cap

Things are pretty quiet these days around Schembechler Hall.   So we will take a look a few story lines:

NBA Combine Re-cap:

Moe Wagner played in two scrimmages and scored 13 and 6 points.   His athleticism didn't blow the scouts away but his quickness was on display and many scouts thought with some development could be a decent NBA player.   It seems many are thinking he is not a first round selection and should head back to school for at least another year.

DJ Wilson didn't participate due to an injury but the NBA Scouts were impressed by his measurements at 6’10.5 with shoes, weighed in at 234 pounds and posted an impressive 7’3 wingspan.   This could help his draft status and make his decision on rather to "stay or go" a difficult one.

Derrick Walton continues to be a long shot to make the NBA.  He scored 9 points with 7 assists and declined to play in the second scrimmage.   Best shot is a Round 2 or maybe a free agent with a Summer League invite.

Moe and DJ have 9 days to decide what they are going to do.   I expect they will speak to a number of teams and get all the information they can before making a decision.  Moe is on record on saying if he is not carrying a first round grade, he will come back to A2.

  • QB Tyler Shough visited this weekend and seemed to have a good time.  He grew up a Michigan fan and has a "good feeling" about his recent visit.  He didn't commit but I think there is a very good chance he winds up in this class in a few weeks.

  • Peppers on Friday denied ever doing any of those drugs that radio host mentioned:  “Absolutely not, never in my life [have I used those substances]. Whatever drugs she says I have done, I have never done in my life," Peppers said Friday.  He is going to receive extra NFL drug tests due to his diluted sample at the combine over the next 60 days.

  • Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei 2019 four-star quarterback JT Daniels will visit A2 and will camp at the A4 Aerial Assault in June.
