MICA’s first pitch competition awards media and urban farming startups top honors

Growing up, Jay Jackson loved watching Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, the famed movie-reviewing duo, bicker about new releases and give films their famous thumbs up or thumbs down.

He never thought he would follow in their footsteps.

Jackson, a graduate student at the Maryland Institute College of Art, is a co-founder of TNP Studios, a media company with 100,000 average monthly downloads of its podcasts on film, politics, video games and comic books — a range of topics the company describes as “The Nerdpocalypse.”
