Maryland delegation attends MEDICA 2016

The Maryland Department of Commerce is leading a delegation of 10 Maryland companies this week to MEDICA 2016, the world’s largest medical trade show held every year in Dusseldorf, Germany. This is the seventh year that Maryland – through Commerce’s Office of International Investment and Trade – has participated in the global trade show as part of a continuing strategy to boost trade and promote Maryland to overseas businesses.

Maryland is hosting a 54 square-meter booth at the show, and has grown its delegation of companies over the years due to increased demand. Each of the Maryland companies in the delegation will have a kiosk within the booth to showcase their products and services to the more than 130,000 attendees from around the world.

“MEDICA gives Maryland the opportunity to show off our businesses and interact with some of the world’s top global health companies and decision makers,” said Commerce Secretary Mike Gill. “While promoting the state as a great place to do business, our participating companies are able to interact with the global audience and find ways to attract investment. Our ExportMD program has enabled many companies in our delegation to attend international trade shows and promote their products abroad.”

The companies exhibiting at MEDICA this year include BioElectronics Corporation (Frederick); Corbin Clinical Resources (Cumberland); EndoCure Technologies (Beltsville); EndoSurg Medical Inc. (Beltsville); Get Real Health (Rockville); IOB Medical (Gaithersburg); Lifeline Medical Supplies (Hyattsville); LKC Technologies (Gaithersburg); Smith Associates (Crofton); and Tetracore Inc. (Rockville).

Returning for its second year with the Maryland delegation is Get Real Health, a global health information technology pioneer specializing in comprehensive patient engagement solutions. The health IT company recently expanded its global reach to Sweden and anticipates adding more international clients as a result of MEDICA.

“The Maryland Department of Commerce has been extremely supportive of small businesses like ours,” said Robin Wiener, president and founding partner of Get Real Health. “We are thrilled to return to Germany and exhibit at MEDICA along with other innovative Maryland companies and showcase why Maryland has such a great environment for international business.”
