Wolverine Wednesday: 2019 Recruiting Thanksgiving Blitz

It's obvious when we say, "the coaches know more then we do" regarding what their needs are in the 2019 class.  We (the common folk) are concerned that there won't be enough spots for high profile recruits that decide late they want to be a Wolverine.   It's clear, the coaches don't share that concern.
The best examples of this strategy is a recent commitment and new offer.  Amauri Pesek-Hickson is a talented athlete out of Kansas City.   He has a huge upside but wasn't even rated a few weeks ago and his only other football offer was Missouri State.  24/7 rates him the 927th player in the nation.  This isn't a reflection on AP-H's talent or upside, this an example the coaches are still open to taking players outside of the few remaining high profile guys.

The next example came last night when Michigan offered 2019 Canton, MI DE Darius Robinson.   Darius is a talented DE and has offers from Colorado, Syracuse, Maryland, and Rutgers. The Wolverines seem very deep at DE, so this was a head scratcher.  Michigan offered him last night as a TE.

With all that above information, lets still get excited about all the high profile recruits!!
  • Zach Harrison the #3 player in the nation who happens to live in Columbus is still trending to Michigan.  The latest news is that Sam Webb put in a CB for him to Ann Arbor yesterday.  Sam was on of the last hold outs and has publicly said, he wouldn't put a CB without solid information he is heading to A2.   That happened yesterday.  Zach plans to enroll in January, so he will have to decide soon.  Yes, please!
  • George Karlaftis is a 5 star DE to 24/7 (4 star to the composite) that lives in another home town of a Big Ten program, West Lafayette, IN.  George picked his home town Purdue over Ann Arbor this past summer.   Many believe his head is in Ann Arbor but his heart is at Purdue.   Jeff Brohm Purdue's head coach is rumored to be ready to take the Louisville job as quickly as Monday or Tuesday.   Some insiders believe that move alone could push Big George to Ann Arbor.  We will see.
  • Quavaris Crouch is a 5 star RB/LB who had his best official visit was to Ann Arbor, but will that still be enough to pull him away from the South?  He officially visited Tennessee and still has a trip to Clemson planned.  He is planning to announce on January 5th during an all star game.   So Michigan most likely will go through the early signing period without knowing Crouch's plans.
  • Trevor Keegan, 4 star Tackle from Illinois.  Trevor took a surprise visit to Ann Arbor last week during the week.  Sounds like he wanted to see practice and how Coach Ed Warinner coached the OLine.  Trevor has been a Michigan lean for some time and hopefully the Wolverines will get his commit soon.  He is a very important recruit.
  • Kyle Ford, a 5 star WR from CA has Michigan in is top 5.   Many believe this is a very long shot and that Kyle will pick USC.  The USC coaching situation may change his mind if there is a change.
Others still considering Michigan:

-Kalen DeLoach 4 star LB from Florida still interested in Michigan but a FSU commit.

-Tommy Eichenberg 4 star ILB from Cleveland, Michigan just offered and he does have an OSU offer as well.

-Dawand Jones 3 star 6'8 360 pound OT, just visited last weekend and plans to make a December decision.  Jones has become a very hot recruit lately with a number of programs trying to get his commitment in the early signing period.

-Cornelius Johnson 4 star WR from CT, not much information from him lately.

Michigan really needs another offensive tackle and an outside WR in this class.   Also any 5 star guys that want to come to Ann Arbor!
