Michigan Friday: MSU Football Is Having Major Issues

The off season is supposed to be a time where you reload for next season.  Whether it's new coaches or new players, the goal is to only have positive headlines.    Sparty is completely on the other side of that theory and has had a very difficult last 30 days or so.

-Yesterday the rumors became real news as MSU has suspended 3 football players and an additional staff member while they investigate allegations of a sexual assault.   The players names were not released.

-The same day, news broke that starting defensive end Demetrius Cooper was hit with a misdemeanor assault charge this Fall for spitting on East Lansing Parking Officer.

-Not to mention, they were not able to sign a player on NSD because he was in jail.

-Or that a player decided to attend South Alabama over MSU or another player wanted to walk-on to Northwestern then play on scholarship in East Lansing.

-A starting Offensive lineman also completely retires/quits football.

After a 3-9 season, it seems the worm has really turned in East Lansing and turned quickly.

  • It seems Michigan Football had a student tryout yesterday.   It looks like Josh Wilk made the team.  He played QB and Safety at De La Salle and even at one point was headed to Michigan Tech to play.

  • Michigan has offered 2018 four-star defensive tackle Aeneas Hawkins out of Cincinnati.

  • Michigan also has offered 2018 ATH James Graham out of GA.

  • Nice article on 2018 TE prospect Will Mallory, son of former Michigan LB Mike Mallory.
