Big Ten Preview Week 8 and Some News and Notes

Ok, we know what the Big Ten game of the week is, so we will look at some of the other match-ups.

Second Tier Big Ten Game of the Week

Indiana at MSU:  The house fell in on the Spartans last year and the news got even worse this summer.  MSU was expected not to be average this year but terrible.  That didn't happen and the Spartans are finding a way to win every week.  They played the Monsoon perfect in Ann Arbor and even played in a rain storm in Minneapolis last weekend as well.   Maybe they got a bunch of guys from the water polo team to suit up?  Now they welcome a tough IU team to East Lansing.   The team Michigan played last weekend, could upset the Spartans.  Many times those efforts don't translate week after week and not on the road.   MSU is -7.   MSU 20 IU 17

Purdue at Rutgers:  There might be a few points scored by the Boilermakers in this one.  Purdue -9.   Purdue 51 Rutgers 28.

Maryland at Wisconsin:  Has Wisconsin played any road games this year?  Another quiet convincing win for the Badgers.  Wisky -24.  Wisconsin 32 Maryland 14

Iowa at Northwestern:  These are very similar teams and it should be a competitive game. Vegas agrees and has made the Hawkeyes a 1.5 favorite.  If you watch two Big Ten games this weekend, I suggest this be the second one.   Northwestern 24 Iowa 21

Illinois at Minnesota:  Is anyone willing to trade Wisconsin for Illinois on Michigan's schedule?  We will throw in a MAC team to be decided later.  Anyone in?  No?  Shoot.   Lovie vs. Row Your Boat - The Golden Gophers are still a year or two away.  Illinois is 3 or 4 years away and they are almost a two TD dog at 13.5.  Minnesota 28 Illinois 21

  • The Michigan - PSU line has dropped a point since Monday it's now down to Michigan +9.5.

  • Tim Drevno did a presser yesterday and basically said, they are very very close to being a good offense.   I'm not sure we have seen much evidence of that.   This would be a good week for the light to go on though.

  • I would like to see Chris Evans in more of RB/Slot WR role.  I think he would be great in some WR looks and try to get him to space.   It also gets more game breakers on the field at the same time.

  • Look for PA native Khaleke Hudson to play inspired on Saturday night in his first game at Happy Valley.
