Michigan Monday: Early Look at Wisconsin and Wolverine Injuries

Wisconsin is the Big Ten's last hope for a playoff spot.  Michigan, OSU, and Penn State all have two loses and pretty much guaranteed to be outside the top 4 final spots.   Wisconsin has their sites on winning this weekend and then getting into the Big Ten Championship game (they have to go to Minnesota for the final game of the year).   Michigan has their sites on winning out and getting a share of the Big Ten East Championship.

Wisconsin is 9-0

Time: Noon EST, 11:00 AM local time on Fox.

Last win: Over Iowa at home

Pass: 188 yards per (96th)
Run: 245 yards per (18th)

Points scored: 36 (24th)
Points against: 13 (3rd)

ESPN Big Ten rank: #1
Playoff rank: #8

Line: Michigan +10

Wisconsin is the football team we have always known them to be.  They want to pound you with their offensive line and run the ball.  They prefer not to throw but will to keep your defense honest.  Three picks kept Iowa in the game for a few minutes on Saturday.

Michigan should match-up well against them on defense, it will be interesting to see what Michigan's offense can do against a very good defense.
------
A mogblog user had a good summary of injuries to the Wolverines.

Doubtful / Out
QB Wilton Speight - Neck
WR Tarik Black - Foot
TE Nick Eubanks – Upper body / neck?
OT Grant Newsome - Leg

Questionable
CB Lavert Hill – Concussion
WR Kekoa Crawford – Lower Body?
WR Nico Collins – Lower Body
RB Karan Higdon – Lower Body / Ankle
RB Ty Isaac – Lower Body
OG – Mike Onwenu – Lower Body
DE Rashan Gary – Shoulder? Might be probable but he didn’t return after getting injured

Probable
CB David Long – Knee
WR Grant Perry – Lower Body? Doghouse? Not sure but played very little yesterday and missed some time before that
RB Kareem Walker – Lower body / ankle? Played yesterday but has been dinged up
TE Ty Wheatley – Lower Body?? Played as well yesterday but has also been dinged up

The questionable status is a big concern for this weekend and OSU.  I would also put Long in questionable, as he was having knee issues on Saturday.
  • Both starting corners are banged up
  • Two top RB's are banged up and Isaac didn't even make the trip to Maryland
  • Starting guard
  • Gary would be a huge loss
Does Michigan have any healthy WR's anymore?  Every program is hurt this time of year and how Michigan heals this week, will be very important on the Wolverines chances in Madison.

  • Let's all rejoice and welcome back Brady Hoke!  He was named the interim head coach for the Tennessee Volunteers on Sunday.  I sure hope Brady is renting, he was in Oregon for a year and their head coach got fired and now the same thing has happened at UT.
