Luminal changes name to Fugue, raises $20 million

A Frederick-based company you probably knew as Luminal has a new name.

The company is now called Fugue, reflecting the name of its cloud operating system, according to a release. The software is designed for businesses to maximize their use of the cloud on an infrastructural level.

The company announced $20 million in new funding, too. The Series C round was led by NEA, the venture capital giant with an office in Timonium. In a statement, NEA General Partner Henry Weller said Fugue is the “missing piece that will redefine the value proposition for businesses and spur the next wave of cloud adoption.”
