After a new all-time annual record for passenger traffic in 2015, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport today reported that 1,619,713 passengers traveled through the airport in January. That figure, an increase of 6.7 percent over January 2015, was a new January record for passenger traffic at BWI Marshall.
January 2016 was the seventh-straight monthly record for passenger traffic at BWI Marshall. A record-setting 23.8 million passengers traveled through the airport in 2015.
“BWI Marshall Airport continues to experience record-setting growth, powered by added airline service and the continued strength of the Maryland economy,” said Governor Larry Hogan. “The airport is an important economic development resource and international gateway for residents and businesses throughout our region.”
International passenger traffic again helped lead the growth at BWI Marshall in January. For January 2016, international passenger traffic climbed 30 percent to nearly 100,000 passengers. A major capital improvement, the D/E Connector program, is underway at BWI Marshall in order to add international capacity and to provide new passenger amenities.
