Baltimore nonprofits say minimum wage hike could lead to funding challenge

Local nonprofit organizations say they are not opposed to a minimum wage increase in Baltimore. But if government funding for nonprofits does not also increase, they worry they may have to cut services or pull out of the city.

There are 3,230 nonprofits in Baltimore City employing about 90,000 people and rely heavily on state and federal funding. With little monetary leeway, the organizations say they may not be able to handle an increase in wages for workers without help.
